Partly Facetious: What's good for the goose should be good for the gander?
"I don't think President Zardari really likes Nawaz Sharif."
"How very observant of you!"
"Are you being facetious?"
"I mean really - the two guys have spent a life time hating each other and not making any bones about it, and you realise that what? Twenty years later?"
"PML (N) leadership is angered at President Zardari's attack of their party head."
"Why? It's not as if Nawaz Sharif has been silent on President Zardari's shortcomings, shall we say."
"You mean, what's good for the goose should be good for the gander?"
"Right, as long as you don't begin to identify who is the goose."
"Why?"
"Because the goose can be cooked, the gander perhaps not."
"You are being facetious today."
"But let me tell you even as the two party leaders were hurling insults at each other two important elements were evident."
"You mean in terms of this country's politics?"
"Yes first, the PPP and the PML (N) seem to have changed their positions dramatically. I mean the PPP came out as the establishment's party while the PML (N) has emerged as the anti-establishment party."
"Wow, that's a dramatic change but if you wish to stay in power in this country then being pro-establishment is the way to go, or at least past precedence teaches us that."
"Indeed, and second even as the two leaders were hurling insults at each other the PML (N) in the assembly quietly accepted the budget."
"Ah I see, so quiet where it matters to the people and angered when their leader is attacked."
"Only Marvi Memon resigned in protest and..."
"She is articulate, she is principled when she speaks but she is not an elected member, she was selected by the Q League under the reserved seats and let's be honest her support for Musharraf kind of makes one challenge her..."
"Hey let the past be the past. Look at the present and the future."
"I guess that is fair but isn't that what President Zardari says..."
"OK, but then if you look at the governance today..."
"Ah yes there is that."
